Fr. Murphy's Reply

I used Monsignor Murphy’s painting as the image for my thesis show cards last spring. What a flurry over an art card. At Central Catholic High School students asked for multiples to give to grandmothers, aunts and uncles. For a moment it was like holding the hottest baseball trading card on the block. This latest magazine cover has further inspired terms of endearment and connections with¬† people I have not yet met.

Neil Murphy writes to me, “You totally nailed it with this great portrait of my brother. I’m surprised he had his eyes open because usually when he is sitting like this he is asleep. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us and the entire Central Catholic community. I especially liked the way you captured his folded arms, the smile and the pant leg lifted up beyond the sock. Priceless. Great job!”

I enjoy fostering community connections as part of my painting process.  These common threads provide a path for meaningful relationship.

  1. Bridget says:

Beautiful entry, Joanne! Well done all the way around.

  2. Sue says:

You captured him so well! Can we do some more painting and you show me how to do that?
