In her etchings, Joanne’s interest in portraiture and figurative gesture comes across as whimsical snapshots of daily living.

In 2004 Joanne attended a 3-week intensive workshop at Black Raven Press taught by master printmaker Richard Stauffacher in Washington State.

“Combining strong design with humor and the concept of  everyday life, the etching medium was the perfect catalyst for the portrayal of anthropomorphic animals assigned aspects of the human psyche. Ascribing human characteristics and social situations to cats and dogs compares our nature to theirs. Cohabitation with our pets as companions, as friends and as family members has taken root and is a visible element in our daily lives.”

Joanne’s collaboration with PAL Poster is yet another venue requiring a unique sense of design and portraiture encapsulating snapshots of daily living.
